On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations and socio-political organizations will have a day off from Saturday, January 25 (ie December 26, year of Giap Thin) to Sunday, February 2 (ie January 5, year of At Ty).
The holiday lasts 9 days, including 5 official Tet holidays and 4 weekly days off. People are eagerly waiting for the Tet weather forecast.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the temperature forecast for January 2025 is approximately the same as the average for many years in the same period. Thus, there will likely be many days of severe cold, concentrated around mid-January 2025 (before Tet 2025). In February 2025, the average monthly temperature is forecast to be approximately the average for many years, severe cold will continue to appear on many days in the month.
According to the meteorological agency, on average, during the period from January 25 to February 2, there were about 3.8 days of severe cold.
"The weather forecast for the Northern region from January 25 to February 2 is that the temperature will be approximately the same or slightly lower than the average of many years. Therefore, the possibility of short-term cold spells during the 2025 Lunar New Year cannot be ruled out," said Mr. Nguyen Van Huong.
According to Mr. Huong, the Central region is also being strongly affected by cold air.
"The special thing is that the cold air affecting the Central region interacts with the terrain, often causing rain. Therefore, if the Lunar New Year weather in the North is cold, the Central region will likely have rain; the North Central region will be cold" - Mr. Huong analyzed.
Meanwhile, during the Lunar New Year period, the Central Highlands and the South are in the dry season, so the possibility of rain is not high.
"The weather in the Central Highlands and the South during Tet is usually dry and hot," said Mr. Huong.
The representative of the meteorological agency emphasized that the weather forecast for Tet is a trend and needs to be monitored further. More detailed forecast information will be updated by the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting after January 20, 2025.
