It is forecast that Typhoon Noul will make landfall in Guangdong province (China) on July 26 (80% probability) and is unlikely to directly affect the mainland of our country.

This morning, July 24, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting provided updated information about notable weather phenomena in the coming days.

Regarding Typhoon Noul, this is the 12th typhoon in the Northwest Pacific region. The position at 7 am this morning (July 24) of the typhoon was at about 18.3 degrees North latitude; 124.2 degrees East longitude. Typhoon intensity level 8, gusts level 10, about 210km east of Luzon (Philippines).

It is forecasted that tonight and early tomorrow morning (July 25th), Typhoon Noul will move into the Northeast area of the Northern East Sea region, becoming the 2nd storm of 2026.

After that, the storm will make landfall in Guangdong province (China) on July 26 (80% probability) and is unlikely to directly affect the mainland of our country.

Warning of dangerous weather in the next 24 - 48 hours for ships and boats in the Northeast Sea of the East Sea.

Regarding rain developments, last night, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La areas had moderate rain, heavy rain 30 - 70mm; locally heavy rain over 70mm such as Minh Quang commune (Tuyen Quang) 121mm, Dai Phuc commune (Thai Nguyen) 120mm, Phu Ninh commune (Phu Tho) 88mm,...

Forecast from the morning of July 24 to July 25, the North will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 40 - 100mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.

Regarding the flood situation, the water levels of the Northern rivers are all below alarm level 1; Reservoirs: Son La 198.36m (to the reservoir 3,125m3/s); Hoa Binh 102.13m (opening 01 discharge gate, reaching the reservoir 3,450m3/s); Thac Ba 52.12m (to the reservoir 450m3/s); Tuyen Quang 106.40m (to the reservoir 2,040m3/s). It is necessary to continue monitoring the flow to Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba reservoirs in the next 12 - 24 hours.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 - 48 hours, Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba reservoirs will tend to increase water levels and need to pay attention to monitoring, the upper reaches of the Thao, Chay, Lo, Cau, and Thuong rivers will be at alarm level 1 - alarm level 2, in some places above alarm level 2; high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous and midland areas and flooding in low-lying riverside areas.
