On the afternoon of February 3rd, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology provided weather forecast information for the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.
Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that during the Lunar New Year, there is very little chance of tropical cyclones appearing in the East Sea.

Period from 7 - 9. 2 (from December 20 - 22 of the lunar calendar), the possibility of the impact of a period of northeast monsoon with moderate to strong intensity; causing rain in many places in the North, the North is cold, mountainous and midland areas are deeply cold. The lowest temperature is commonly 12 - 15 degrees C, the highest is commonly 15 - 18 degrees C.
The area from Ha Tinh province to Da Nang city and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai from October 7 - 10, is forecast to have rain, showers, locally moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The area from Khanh Hoa to eastern Lam Dong, the Central Highlands and the South is generally less rainy and sunny during the day, with no hot sun.
The period before Tet from February 10 - 13 (from December 22 - 26 of the lunar calendar), around February 11 (December 24 of the lunar calendar), the northern provinces will be affected by a wave of weak cold air intensifying to the east.
The Northern region is cloudy, with rain in some places, early morning fog and light fog appear, especially the coastal area, the Northern Delta region is likely to have light rain" - Mr. Lam said.
According to Mr. Lam, the lowest temperature in this period is commonly 13 - 16 degrees C; sunny at noon and in the afternoon in the Northeast region and stronger sunshine in the Northwest region. The highest temperature in the Northeast region is commonly from 19 - 22 degrees; in the Northwest region 23 - 26 degrees C.
The Central region from February 11 - 13 (December 24 - 26 of the lunar calendar) has rain at night and in the morning, rain decreases at noon and in the afternoon; the lowest temperature in the area from Thanh Hoa province - Hue city is commonly 16 - 19 degrees C, the highest is commonly 23 - 26 degrees C.
The South Central Coast region, the lowest temperature is commonly 19 - 22 degrees C, the highest is commonly 26 - 29 degrees C.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions are cloudy at night and early morning, with fog and light fog, sunny during the day, no hot sun, the lowest temperature is commonly 14 - 17 degrees C in the Central Highlands, about 22 - 25 degrees in the South, the highest is commonly 25 - 28 degrees C in the Central Highlands, about 30 - 33 degrees in the South. The period from November 10 - 2 (December 23 - 24 of the lunar calendar) in the southern part of the Central Highlands and the Southern region is likely to have unseasonal rain.
In the main Tet days (ie February 14 - 20, i.e. from the 27th of Tet to the 4th of Tet), there are no signs of cold air appearing.
In the period from February 14th to 18th (from the 27th day of Tet to the 2nd day of Tet), in the northern provinces, it is common to have light rain in some places at night and in the morning, with fog and light fog, cold at night and in the morning, light sunshine in the afternoon.
