The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a noteworthy weather trend forecast for the April period. Accordingly, it is likely to record some noteworthy weather developments due to the transitional season.
Regarding the temperature trend, in April 2026, the average temperature nationwide is generally higher than the multi-year average. In which, in the Northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue, the average temperature is generally 1.5 - 2.5 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average. In other areas, the average temperature is generally 0.5 - 1.5 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average of the same period.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa - Deputy Head of the Climate Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in April, cold air will still be active but weak in intensity, mainly compressing a low pressure trough in southern China.
Cold air during the transitional season may cause thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind in the Northern region" - Mr. Hoa advised.
Cold air is also likely to cause thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves affecting the operation of ships and boats in the sea areas of the East Sea.
Previously, in March, there were 2 cold spells on March 3rd and March 9th. The cold spells mainly caused cold and scattered rain for the Northern region.
Regarding the upcoming hot weather situation, according to the Deputy Head of the Climate Forecasting Department, hot weather tends to increase in most areas across the country.
Hot weather is likely to appear more intense than the average of many years, concentrated in the Northwest region, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South" - Mr. Hoa said.
In the Northwest regions, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South, the phenomenon of hot and intense heat affects people's lives and production significantly.
Regarding the rainfall trend, during the forecast period, the total rainfall in the Northern region is generally lower than the multi-year average by 30 - 60mm; in the Central and Southern regions, the total rainfall is generally lower by 15 - 30mm, in which the Central Highlands region, the total rainfall is generally lower by 30 - 40mm compared to the multi-year average of the same period.
In April, there is a possibility of widespread rain across most of the country, with more concentrated rain in the Northern mountainous region" - Mr. Hoa said.
Dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind are likely to appear nationwide, concentrated more in the Northern region.
Dangerous weather trend at sea, in April, it is forecast that storms or tropical depressions are unlikely to appear in the East Sea area. According to multi-year averages in April, there are 0.2 storms/tropical depressions in the East Sea area and they will not make landfall in Vietnam.
