According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the cold air has intensified and affected some places in the South Central region. The Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 7, gusting to level 9; the Central Coast has strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 8.
On December 14, cold air continued to strengthen and affect other places in the South Central region. Northeast wind inland was strong at level 3, coastal areas at level 4-5.
On the day and night of December 14, the North and Thanh Hoa will have very cold weather, with severe cold in mountainous areas. The lowest temperature in the North and Thanh Hoa will be around 11 - 14 degrees Celsius; in mountainous areas 8 - 11 degrees Celsius, with some places below 7 degrees Celsius.
Average temperature is about 13 - 15 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas it is below 12 degrees Celsius.
Dien Bien and the area from Nghe An to Quang Binh have the lowest temperature of about 13 - 16 degrees Celsius, Dien Bien has some places below 11 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 16 - 18 degrees Celsius.
Hanoi area is very cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 10 - 13 degrees Celsius.
Due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, from December 14 to the night of December 15, the area from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; the North Central region will have rain, showers, locally heavy rain.
Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.
Day and night of December 15, the temperature tends to decrease further.
The lowest temperature in the North and Thanh Hoa is generally from 10 - 13 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 7 - 10 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas some places are below 6 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 13 - 15 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas some places are below 12 degrees Celsius.
Dien Bien area and from Nghe An to Quang Binh have the lowest temperature commonly from 12 - 15 degrees Celsius, Dien Bien area has places below 11 degrees Celsius. Average temperature is about 15 - 17 degrees Celsius.
At sea, day and night of December 14, Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast wind level 6 - 7, gust level 8 - 9; rough sea; waves from 2 - 4.5m high.
The North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong northeast winds of level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9, rough seas; waves 4 - 6m high.
The sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the sea area from Binh Dinh to Phu Yen and the northern part of the central East Sea has strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9; rough seas; waves from 3 - 5m high.
Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
