On July 1, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province said that it had directed departments, branches and localities to establish an inter-sectoral delegation to strengthen the management and inspection of mineral exploitation activities in the area.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, in the past time, state management of minerals has had many positive changes, contributing to protecting resources and serving socio-economic development.
However, through inspection and examination, illegal mineral exploitation, exploitation exceeding capacity, exceeding licensed reserves and violations of environmental protection regulations still occur.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, People's Committees of communes, wards, Phu Quy special zone and related units to advise on the establishment of inter-sectoral inspection teams in the third quarter of 2026 to inspect and supervise mineral exploitation activities.
Inspection teams will focus on reviewing, promptly detecting and strictly handling cases of illegal mining, mining outside the boundary, exceeding capacity or not in accordance with the content of the license as prescribed.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial Police to strengthen grasping the situation, investigating and handling acts of illegal mineral exploitation, transportation, business and storage.
The Provincial Police directed commune-level police to coordinate inspections of construction material business establishments, mineral gathering yards and mobilize people to participate in denouncing violations.
For the People's Committees of communes, wards and Phu Quy special zone, the province requests to proactively develop inspection plans, establish inter-sectoral working groups suitable to local realities; regularly inspect areas at risk of illegal mineral exploitation to promptly detect, handle or propose handling according to their authority.
