At about 1:30 pm on September 21, heavy rain caused a large amount of water from upstream to flow in, the drainage system could not keep up, causing localized flooding in the Hiep Thuan bridge area on National Highway 20, belonging to Hiep Thuan village, Ninh Gia commune, Lam Dong province.
Heavy rain caused flooding of roads, water flooded into many houses, including 2 houses heavily flooded; many properties and items were wet, at risk of damage.
Immediately after the flood occurred, leaders of the Commune People's Committee, officials of the Commune Military Command, 10 standing militiamen, along with police forces and people of Hiep Thuan village approached the scene, supporting households to move property to safe places.
Property damage has not yet been statistically determined. Local authorities are continuing to inspect and summarize for reporting.
Previously, on the evening of September 20, the Civil Defense Command of Hiep Thanh commune issued an urgent notice about the flood and flooding situation in the area for people to proactively respond.
On National Highway 20, the section passing through Dinh An village, water from upstream cannot drain in time, causing flooding of hundreds of meters of road.
Local authorities arranged forces to be on duty at the beginning of the flooded road section to guide people to move safely.
The Civil Defense Command of Hiep Thanh commune recommends that people proactively take the elderly, children, property and livestock to a high, dry and safe place.
The locality also warned of the risk of flash floods and landslides at slopes, pass areas and streams if heavy rain continues to last.
