From the afternoon of May 24 to May 25, Ha Tinh province experienced very heavy rain, of which: 55/103 monitoring stations had over 100mm of rain; 29/103 stations had over 200mm of rain; 13/103 stations had over 300mm of rain; 7/103 stations had over 400mm of rain. In Ky Giang commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province, the rainfall was up to 601.4mm.
Regarding the rainfall, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting stated that the cause of this rain is the influence of cold air, combined with disturbances in the easterly wind zone operating at level 1500 - 3000m combined with interaction with the terrain of Ngang Pass area (the part between Ha Tinh and Quang Binh),
The meteorological agency said that in Ha Tinh, there are 3 long-term monitoring stations (over 30 years) and some new automatic rain monitoring stations have been established for 3 years (from 2022 to present).

In Ky Hoa Commune, Ky Anh District, the heaviest rainfall in 1 hour during the rain on May 24 - 25 in Ha Tinh was up to 172.8mm. According to historical statistics, this is the largest value ever recorded, not only in May but throughout the year.
The heaviest rainfall in 1 hour of the whole year so far has been at some stations as follows: at Bac Quang station (Ha Giang) was 168mm on July 3, 2024; in Da Nang it was 165mm on October 14, 2022; in Ho Chi Minh City it was 127mm on May 10, 2025; at Ha Tinh station (Ha Tinh) it was 136.7mm on October 16, 2013.
Regarding the flood situation, last night, this morning (May 25), on the Ngan Sau and Ngan Pho rivers, a flood appeared, with a flood amplitude of 2.5 - 8.5m at stations.
At 2:00 p.m. on May 25, floods on rivers had peaked, were still below alert level 1 and were slowly receding. Due to very heavy rain, flooding occurred in low-lying areas along rivers and streams, flooding in districts, residential areas, and urban areas of Ha Tinh province. Especially in the communes of Ky Hoa, Ky Chau, Ky Thinh (Ky Anh), Ha Linh, Phuc Dong, Huong Thuy, Huong Giang, Loc Yen (Huong Khe), My Loc (Can Loc), Cam My, Cam Due, Cam Lac, Cam Thach, TT. Cam Xuyen (Cam Xuyen), Luu Vinh Son (Thach Ha).
During this flood, the water level at Chu Le stations was 11.21m; Hoa Duyet 6.8; Son Diem 7.0m. The two stations of Chu Le and Hoa Duyet exceeded the historical value of the water level in May (the historical value at Chu Le was 9.11m; Hoa Duyet 5.95; Son Diem 9.09m).
