On November 30, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that, assessing the results of socio-economic development in 2024, regarding the environment, Nghe An province had 2 targets that did not meet the set targets.
Two targets that have not been achieved are the rate of operating industrial parks with centralized wastewater treatment systems that meet environmental standards and the rate of facilities causing serious environmental pollution that are treated.
Up to now, in Nghe An province, 36/42 facilities causing serious environmental pollution have been thoroughly handled.
Currently, the province still has 6 facilities causing serious environmental pollution that have not been thoroughly treated, including 5 public facilities (Nghe An Oncology Hospital; Cua Lo town landfill; Tan Ky district landfill; Dong Vinh landfill, Vinh city; Dien Chau landfill) and 1 production and business facility (Thai Duong pig farm, Dai Son commune, Do Luong district - has stopped operating since 2019).
According to the People's Committee of Nghe An province, these are seriously polluting facilities that have existed for many years. The treatment process is difficult and costly, so treatment will not be completed in 2024.
By 2025, Nghe An province has set a goal of striving to handle 100% of facilities causing serious environmental pollution in the province.
Standing Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh said that in 2025, the province will continue to direct functional agencies to periodically monitor, track and supervise environmental quality according to the Nghe An Provincial Environmental Monitoring Program for the period 2021-2025.
Focus on directing and organizing the implementation of environmental protection work; promote propaganda work, raise awareness and responsibility of the whole society for environmental protection; strictly control pollution sources; strengthen inspection, examination, detection and settlement of complaints and denunciations related to resource management and environmental protection.
