Gia Lai people voluntarily hand over rare pangolins

THANH TUẤN |

Gia Lai - A pangolin strayed into his house. Mr. Hung knew that it was a rare animal that needed to be protected, so he contacted the authorities to hand it over.

On February 5, information from the Gia Lai Provincial Forest Protection Department said that the unit had just coordinated with the Hoi Phu Ward Police (Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province) to organize the handover of an endangered and rare pangolin for care before releasing it into the wild.

Previously, on the evening of February 2, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung (residing in group 4, Hoi Phu ward, Pleiku city) discovered a pangolin weighing about 1kg wandering into his house.

Through research, Mr. Hung knew that this was a wild, rare and extremely endangered animal, so he reported it to the Hoi Phu Ward Police and the Gia Lai Provincial Forest Protection Department.

After receiving the report, the authorities received the pangolin and handed it over to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms (under Kon Ka Kinh National Park) for care and nurturing.

When this individual grows up and has enough conditions, it will be released into the natural environment, contributing to the conservation of rare animals and biodiversity.
