On the afternoon of December 2, the Forest Protection Department of Bao Loc City (Lam Dong) received a rare Javan pangolin weighing 2.2 kg.
This Java pangolin was received from the family of Mr. Le Van Ha (35 years old), residing in Loc Son ward, Bao Loc city.
Previously, at around 7pm on December 1, Mr. Le Van Ha heard a strange noise in the yard. Afterwards, he and his relatives went out to check and discovered the aforementioned pangolin crawling into the yard.
Seeing that, Mr. Ha and his relatives temporarily detained him, then quickly reported to local authorities and functional agencies.
Upon receiving the report, Bao Loc City Forest Protection Department coordinated with Mr. Le Van Ha's family to carry out procedures to hand over and receive the above pangolin.
After receiving it, Bao Loc City Forest Protection Department temporarily took care of it and completed the procedures to hand over the pangolin to Cat Tien National Park for release into the natural environment in the near future.
According to Bao Loc City Forest Protection Department, Java pangolin is a rare wild animal belonging to group IB, listed in the Vietnam Red Book.
The Javan pangolin is endangered, prioritized for protection and strictly prohibited from exploitation, use, sale and consumption in any form.
