The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a meteorological assessment for this weekend and next week (from December 14 to December 20).
Northern Region
From December 14 to 15, there will be rain in some places in the North. The weather will be very cold, especially in mountainous areas.
From December 16 to 20, sunny days, no rain at night. Cold weather, some mountainous areas have severe cold.
Water levels in the Northern rivers change slowly.
Central Region
From December 14 to 15, the Central region will have rain, showers, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms; from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms. The North will be cold, with some places experiencing severe cold.
From December 16 to 20, the Central region will have rain in some places, especially from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, there will be scattered rain and thunderstorms. The North will be cold. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
From December 14 to 15, rivers from Thua Thien Hue to Khanh Hoa are likely to experience a flood, with flood peaks on rivers at alert level 1 - alert level 2, some rivers above alert level 2.
There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of provinces from Thua Thien Hue to Khanh Hoa.
Central Highlands and Southern Region
From December 14 to 15, the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places.
From December 16 to 20, the Central Highlands and the South will have showers and thunderstorms in some places.
Thunderstorms are likely to produce tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Water levels of rivers in the Central Highlands and the South change slowly.
Hanoi area
From December 14 to 15, Hanoi has no rain. The weather is very cold.
From December 16 to 20, Hanoi will have sunny days and no rain at night; cold weather.
Oceanographic situation assessment
From December 14 to 16, due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, the North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) had waves ranging from 4 to 6m, the area from Quang Tri to Binh Thuan, the central East Sea area had common wave heights of 3 to 5m, rough seas.
From December 17, wave height tends to decrease gradually in sea areas, except for the East Sea and southern sea areas, wave height remains high.
From December 20, wave heights in the Gulf of Tonkin and the North East Sea tend to increase rapidly and then gradually spread southward. In the Gulf of Tonkin, wave heights fluctuate from 2 to 4 meters, in the Quang Tri to Binh Thuan area, and in the East Sea (including Hoang Sa archipelago and Truong Sa), wave heights fluctuate from 3 to 6 meters, with rough seas.
The tides on the eastern coast of the South are at high levels, and will last until December 18. Low-lying coastal areas, riverbanks, and areas outside the dykes in the eastern South are likely to be flooded during the morning, evening, and night.
There is little chance of a tropical cyclone forming in the South China Sea next week.
