Hanoi has heavy rain due to the influence of a tropical convergence zone with its axis passing through the Red River Delta connecting to a tropical depression in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Currently, Hanoi city has rain, moderate rain, in some places heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

This morning, August 21, the Northern Hydrometeorological Station said that rainfall from 7 pm on August 20 to 7 am on August 21 in general places was 15 - 30 mm, in some places even heavier such as: Van Dinh 114.8mm, Huong Son 111.2mm, Cho Chay 100mm,...

The cause of the rain is due to the influence of a tropical convergence zone with its axis passing through the Red River Delta connecting to a tropical depression in the Gulf of Tonkin area.

From now until the morning of August 23, Hanoi city will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Common rainfall is from 80 - 150mm, in some places over 200mm.

On the day and night of August 23, Hanoi city will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms. Common rainfall is from 30 - 50mm, in some places even heavier.

The Northern Hydrometeorological Station warns that the level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain is level 1. In thunderstorms, there may be tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind that cause trees to fall, houses, traffic works and infrastructure to be damaged.

Heavy rain in a short period of time overloads the urban drainage system, causing flooding in residential areas, urban areas and low-lying areas, traffic jams due to road flooding and reduced visibility when driving, causing slipperiness and traffic accidents.
