Great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation
The August Revolution of 1945 was successful, opening a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation, our people from slave status became people of an independent, free, democratic country and mastered their own destiny.
However, with their ambitions, hostile and reactionary forces are aggressively promoting the attack and distortion of the leadership role of our Party in many media, especially on the internet and social networks.
Old, distorted, and outdated arguments are repeated in cyberspace such as the victory of the August Revolution as "luck", "power vacuum", "historical mistakes"...
At the same time, they incorporate content that incites, discriminates, and stigmatizes regions, claiming that Southerners only help Southerners, the August Revolution only takes place in the North, and then demanding to divide "North", "South"..., people must stand up to fight to overthrow the current regime in Vietnam to have the opportunity to live in a free, democratic regime, have a prosperous and happy life, not worry about poverty, natural disasters, and floods.
These are very dangerous deliberately distorted arguments, denying the achievements of the Revolution, especially the values of democracy and freedom for the People.
With the above false, dangerous and distorted historical arguments, hostile forces, reactionary organizations in exile and some opposition subjects have deliberately "steered", embedded and provided false information in order to swap the nature, lower the meaning, stature, and historical value of the nation and the era of the August Revolution. Moving towards inciting and dividing the great national unity bloc, fading the political will of the people, especially young people.
Affirming the leadership role of the Party and the great national unity bloc
Since its inception, our Party and President Ho Chi Minh have attached great importance to gathering and building the great national unity bloc to create the indomitable strength in the August Revolution of 1945.
The victory of the August Revolution demonstrated the correct line of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh in determining the revolutionary force.
With the right direction from the beginning, our Party mobilized the strength of the entire nation, upheld the spirit of patriotism, aspiration for independence and freedom, will of self-reliance and self-strengthening, determined to use our strength to liberate ourselves; it has gathered patriotic organizations and a large number of people into a bloc in all mountainous, rural, delta and urban areas, in all classes, social strata, ethnic groups in the Vietnamese national community, religions, patriotic and progressive individuals. Without the force of the great national unity bloc like that, there could not be victory of the August Revolution in 1945.
The August Revolution of 1945's success is the first great victory of our people since the Party's leadership, opening a major turning point in the nation's history.
From here, the government fell into the hands of the People; the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) - the first worker-peasant state in Southeast Asia. Also from here, the country, society, nation and people of Vietnam entered a new era, an era of national independence associated with socialism.
The victory of the August Revolution in 1945 is a brilliant milestone in the history flow of thousands of years of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese nation, with extremely great historical and contemporary value.
Practice in Vietnam has proven that since the August Revolution in 1945 was successful, our State has always respected the basic freedoms of citizens and considered them one of the principles of building laws, which is constitutionalized in the Constitution and guaranteed in practice.
Citizens have the right to choose and exercise their basic freedoms within the framework of the law such as: all Vietnamese citizens are equal before the law, freedom of residence, freedom of business, freedom of movement, freedom of belief, freedom of speech, freedom of research, creation, freedom to choose a career to make a living, freedom of marriage.
From a poor, backward country, devastated by war, besieged and isolated, to date, the GDP scale in 2025 reached over 514 billion USD, 1.48 times higher than in 2020, ranked 32nd in the world, GDP per capita reached 5,026 USD, joining the group of high-middle income countries, highly appreciated by many prestigious international organizations.
Vietnam was re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term 2026 - 2028 with the highest number of votes in the Asia-Pacific Group; held many important positions at the United Nations and UNESCO; actively contributed to maintaining peace and solving common global and human issues.
The above specific achievements and figures have affirmed the victory of the August Revolution of 1945 as a heroic epic of the 20th century and affirmed the leadership role of the Party in the Vietnamese revolution. From the 14th National Congress, our Party has determined that the country is entering a new era of development towards 2045, a major milestone marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, we set a strategic goal to become a developed country with high incomes.
