According to the leader of the Police Department investigating the crime of corruption, economy, smuggling and environment of Quang Tri Province, when receiving information, from the morning of April 22, this unit has deployed forces, coordinated with relevant units in the investigation and clarification.
The leader of the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling, and Environment also said that in the past, the unit has discovered many cases of illegal sand mining.
Previously, from around mid-April 2025, people living along the Thach Han River in Dong Ha City (Quang Tri Province) and Trieu Thuan and Trieu Do Communes (Trieu Phong District, Quang Tri Province) reported that at night there were many sand dredgers on the river until dawn. After illegally dredging sand, the sand was gathered at sandbanks located close to the riverbank in Trieu Phong district.
Research shows that on the Thach Han River through Dong Ha City and the above communes, there are no licensed sand mines.
