On March 19, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province informed that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just sent a document to the Department of Agriculture and Environment; Provincial Police; People's Committee of Quang Ngai city; People's Committee of Son Tinh district requesting an inspection of the content of information reflecting from mass information agencies related to illegal sand mining on Tra Khuc river.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, on March 16, 2025, mass media agencies reported that illegal sand mining continued to "operate" day and night on the Tra Khuc river in Quang Ngai city and Son Tinh district, but localities and authorities have not taken thorough measures to handle it.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Quang Ngai City and Son Tinh District to urgently organize field inspections, verify, and strictly handle violations (if any) in accordance with regulations; take effective measures to prevent, stop illegal sand mining, transportation, and trading on the Tra Khuc River and strictly handle the responsibility of the leaders for this situation (the Provincial People's Committee has issued many directives related to this content).Report to the Provincial People's Committee on the implementation results before March 28, 2025.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial Police, according to their functions and tasks, monitor, coordinate, proactively grasp information and strengthen inspection and strict handling according to regulations.
