On September 16, Mr. Le Xuan Thuan - Chairman of Truong Xuan Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) - said that the locality is coordinating with the forest ranger force to cut down dead dry pine trees located along National Highway 14, passing through the area.
Previously, to proactively prevent the risk of unsafety during the rainy and storm season, Truong Xuan Commune People's Committee directed functional forces to review and statistically count dead pine trees along National Highway 14.
Trees with signs of intestinal bumps, stem rot, and risk of falling are put under handling according to regulations.
Through review, functional forces identified 46 pine trees, with a total volume of nearly 27m3, located in 7 sub-zones along National Highway 14.
Many trees have died, bumps, rotten trunks, posing a risk of falling onto the road when storms occur.
According to Mr. Le Xuan Thuan, the handling is proactively implemented by the locality to limit the risk of fallen trees affecting traffic, lives and property of people.
In particular, National Highway 14 is a traffic route with traffic flow, so it is necessary to detect and handle trees at risk of unsafety early.
In recent days, functional forces of Truong Xuan commune have coordinated with local forest rangers and Nam Nung Forest Protection Department to cut down the number of dead pine trees according to the approved plan.
It is expected that by the end of September 20, all 46 dead and dry pine trees will be treated.
The remaining valuable pine wood is listed for forestry products, transported to the commune's gathering yard for management, then procedures for valuation, liquidation and payment to the budget are carried out according to regulations.
Reviewing and handling dead trees before the time of complicated storms and floods is considered an early preventive solution, contributing to ensuring traffic safety and limiting possible damage on National Highway 14.
