On March 5, Dong Hung Thuan Ward Police, Ho Chi Minh City, said that officers at the unit helped a distraught old man find his loved one after more than a day of being lost.
The incident started on the evening of March 4, 2026, people discovered an 80-year-old man lost in the Cau Market area (78th Ward) in a tired state, so they took him to the Dong Hung Thuan Ward Police headquarters for support.
Upon receiving the information, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Bat Ngan - the on-duty officer - said that the old man was thin, with gray hair, showing signs of fatigue and absent-mindedness. Due to his old age, his memory was no longer clear, and the information he provided about his family was quite vague, causing difficulties for initial verification.
Recognizing that the old man showed signs of hunger and fatigue, ward police officers quickly provided food and drinks, and at the same time kindly inquired and reassured his spirit. The incident was reported to the Ward Police Command to promptly deploy measures to support the search for relatives. At the same time, the police force urgently verified information, took photos of the old man and widely announced to people in the neighborhoods.

During the working process, police officers discovered in the old woman's pants pocket an old electricity bill, with the address in Tan Son Nhi ward. From this small clue, by professional measures and persistent verification, Dong Hung Thuan Ward Police contacted the old woman's relative, Mr. Nguyen Van Thong (born in 1975).
A few minutes later, Mr. Thong arrived at the Ward Police headquarters. Meeting his father, Mr. Nguyen Van Xao, he could not hide his emotion. He shared that his family was extremely worried when they discovered his father lost from the day before, had to print and paste many search notices but still had no results.
Moved by the dedication and responsibility of the Police force, Mr. Nguyen Van Thong wrote a thank-you letter, expressing his respect and deep gratitude to the officers and soldiers of Dong Hung Thuan Ward Police.
