Previously, the story of a foreign female tourist named S.C, shared on social networks, attracted attention. According to reports, she took a taxi from Tan Son Nhat airport to an apartment building on Nguyen Van Linh street, Tan Thuan ward.
The female tourist said that the journey only lasted about 30 minutes, but the amount the driver requested to pay was nearly 3 million VND. She did not agree with this fare and reacted to the driver.
According to the account posted, the driver then raised his voice, locked the car door, making it impossible for the female tourist to get out of the car. She finally had to pay the requested amount to be able to leave the vehicle.
This information was then received by Tan Thuan Ward Police. Functional forces reviewed information related to the trip, identified the vehicle and driver to clarify the incident.
The driver was taken to the Ward Police headquarters to work and admitted his actions. After the verification process, the police handed over the money the female tourist had paid.
The police reminded tourists to choose reputable taxi companies, check vehicle information and keep invoices and trip data. When disputes over fares arise, passengers need to remain calm, keep relevant information and contact functional agencies for support.
