On September 13, Mr. Tran Phuc Ba - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Phong Nha town (Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province) said that a 102-year-old woman in the locality came to donate because she felt sorry for the people in the North.
“An old lady named Ho Thi Mieu (102 years old, living in Phong Nha residential group, Phong Nha town) came to the cultural house of the residential group to support the people in the North affected by natural disasters. She came and sent her regards to the people in the North, and hoped that more people would join hands to support the people who suffered losses,” said Mr. Ba.
Mr. Ba informed that Ms. Mieu's family is in difficult circumstances and she is living with her son in residential group 9.
In recent days, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Phong Nha town has sent a letter calling for support from people in the northern provinces. Up to now, there have been 421.3 million VND donated by unions, organizations, businesses, and people.
In the border commune of Thuong Trach (Bo Trach district), after the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the commune called for donations, many cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, armed forces, and people... donated and supported about 60 million VND.
In particular, among these, there are many people from the border areas who still come to support their compatriots in the North.
“We were very surprised when our fellow countrymen, who are still facing many difficulties, from every household, every person, and every generation, still donated. There are remote villages with difficult terrain and no roads for cars, but people also volunteered to donate,” said Vice Chairman of Thuong Trach Commune People’s Committee Nguyen Truong Chinh.
