The road in My Tan village, Binh Chanh commune, Binh Son district was previously about 2m wide and 1.2km long, but has now been concreted and widened to 7m. The investment cost to expand the road is nearly 1 billion VND, of which the State budget supports 450 million VND, the rest is contributed by the people. 32 households living along both sides of the road voluntarily donated land, money, and working days to expand the road, making efforts with the locality to build it to meet the standards of an advanced new rural commune by 2025.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Trinh Quoc Dai, resident of Binh Chanh commune, said: “For the common development of society, my family voluntarily donated land to expand the road. The road was expanded and spacious, my family and the people in the commune all enjoyed it.”
Sharing with reporters, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Van - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Chanh commune said that when the road section in My Tan village was widened, some households donated 50 million VND. Those in difficulty donated working days, joining hands with the government and people to build a new countryside.
For many years, people in Dong village, Tra Son commune, Tra Bong district have not had a place for cultural activities. Understanding the difficulties of the government, Mr. Dinh Thanh Hien in Dong village voluntarily donated over 1,000m2 of land for the locality to build a village cultural house. With a cultural house, people in the village have a convenient place for activities, contributing to helping the locality complete the criteria for building a new rural commune.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Dinh Thanh Hien shared: “My land is not much, and I have many children, but my family agreed to donate it to the locality to build a cultural house, so that the villagers have a decent place to live. Meetings and propaganda of the State's policies are more convenient.”
The movement of joining hands to build new rural areas and advanced new rural areas in the province has been strongly spread in localities. Up to now, the whole province has two districts and 96 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards, 6 communes meeting advanced new rural standards. The results achieved, in addition to investment resources, also have important contributions from the people.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Khac Minh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Bong district shared that the district is mountainous so the lives of many households still face many difficulties, so people rarely contribute money but are very willing to donate land, working with the locality to build new rural areas.
According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ngai province, in the past 5 years, people in the province have contributed over 153 thousand working days, donated over 310 thousand square meters of land and contributed over 136 billion VND to build new rural projects and works such as building rural roads, solidifying intra-field canals...
