The Third Prize Certificate of Merit in the Writing Contest for Godfathers recently awarded by Quang Ngai Province is a warm gift that Pham Thi Kim Sanh, a 5th grade student at Nghia Tho Primary School, Tu Nghia District, Quang Ngai Province, wants to send to her special foster fathers, soldiers working at the Tu Nghia District Military Command. As a Hre ethnic, Sanh was orphaned, living with her elderly grandparents, her previous life was very pitiful. Luckily, the soldiers knew about her situation and accepted her as their sponsor. For nearly 2 years, Sanh has no longer lacked food or clothing, and her path to school has become more convenient.
Pham Thi Kim Sanh confided: “My biological father passed away early, but thanks to the soldiers who took care of me, I also consider them as my father. Every month, my father Hoang and my father No come to help me, teach me how to study, and give me milk cakes. I am very happy and I will try to study better.”
Close to the people, closely following the masses, local soldiers in Quang Ngai understand the hard life of the people and the desire of poor students to go to school. From each time they stick close to the area, officers and soldiers proactively survey and learn about the circumstances of disadvantaged students. From there, many volunteer models to light up children's dreams were born such as "Godfather", "Helping children go to school", "Congee pot of love"... Not only taking care of material things, every week, soldiers arrange their professional work, take advantage of time to help children from nurturing, teaching, or joining hands to cook breakfast to send to children in the highlands...
Talking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Anh Triet - Deputy Political Commissar of Tu Nghia District Military Command - confided: "In the process of implementing the sponsorship model, the feelings and responsibilities of all officers and soldiers are highly appreciated; they care a lot about the children. We give gifts quarterly, besides that, before the school year, on June 1st, and Mid-Autumn Festival, we also give gifts, and regularly exchange with teachers of the school and class, grasp the learning situation of the children to help them make more progress."
Quang Ngai province still has more than 3,000 children in unfortunate circumstances or orphans who need help. Over the years, together with other agencies and units, officers and soldiers of the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command have implemented many models of sharing difficulties, sponsoring hundreds of young children who are lacking both materially and spiritually. The "special" fathers wearing red military uniforms have become a support, helping children's dreams take flight on their life path.
According to Colonel Trinh Cong Son - Deputy Political Commissar of Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, through models to help poor children, it contributes to encouraging and helping them to become useful people for society.
