According to the tradition of Vietnamese people from ancient times to the present, the New Year's Eve meal is always a moment for each family to gather together to welcome the sacred moment of the new year. Those who live far from home want to return to reunite with their family and relatives. For cancer patients, those moments become even more special.
With the desire to bring a warm atmosphere of reunion in the hospital, so that patients can celebrate Tet more fully when their health is guaranteed and they no longer have to worry about finances to return home after treatment near Tet, K Hospital organized the Loving Tet - Reunion Meal Program with more than 200 patients gathered around a meal tray right at the hospital canteen. For patients who were not healthy enough to attend the Program, hospital representatives visited each bed to visit, encourage and give special, nutritious meals to the patients.
With lots of affection and New Year wishes sent to each patient, Dr. Do Anh Tu - Deputy Director of K Hospital, in charge of Tam Hiep facility - shared: "The Year-end meal program has gradually become an annual activity of the hospital in recent years. We wish to organize an intimate year-end meal in a very warm atmosphere so that all patients can feel the sharing of the hospital, the sponsor, the doctors, and nurses like the affection that family members have for each other. The greatest wish of a doctor is that the patient is treated stably and successfully, maintaining an optimistic spirit, and feeling secure because there is always the companionship of medical staff".
Although he had just undergone radiotherapy and was still tired, patient Le Van L was very moved to attend the warm New Year's Eve dinner with his companions in the Radiation Department. "Not only me, but all the patients were very moved because the hospital organized such a meaningful program. Every day we come for treatment, we get free meals and drinks, so we save more money to pay for medicine. When Tet comes, we also get more support, so I feel more secure and try to continue my treatment," patient L shared.
Many tears were shed when seeing the image of the patients being moved, gathering together to enjoy a family meal with traditional Tet flavors such as banh chung, nem, gio... More than a New Year's Eve meal, it was the affection, the heart, the cooperation of the whole hospital and philanthropists for cancer patients, so that each person has more strength and determination to overcome the disease, to welcome many more springs.
These meaningful activities help patients to ease their homesickness and homesickness during the last days of the year when they have to be treated far from home, so that K Hospital is not only a place for treatment but also seems to become a second home for each person with lots of love and warmth from all members.
