Bringing medical services to patients' homes
Once a week, physician Vo Tan Danh - Deputy Head of the Examination and Treatment Department of Dong Son Commune Health Station and colleagues bring medicines and medical examination tools to the homes of elderly, weak, lonely, seriously ill or having difficulty traveling patients to examine, advise and provide free medicine for each case.
Among the people cared for by the Party Cell of Dong Son Commune Health Station is Ms. Pham Thi Lai (88 years old), in An Thanh village. Old, living alone, without relatives to care for, Ms. Lai suffers from many old age diseases, so traveling for examination and treatment is very difficult. Therefore, every time doctors and nurses come to her house for examination, Ms. Lai is very happy.
I am old and weak now, sick enough, but I can't go to the hospital. Luckily, there are dedicated doctors coming to my house for examination, I am very grateful," Ms. Lai said.
For Ms. Nguyen Thi Tra (70 years old), a first-class wounded soldier, in Liem Quang village, Dong Son commune, every time she gets sick, going to the commune health station is not easy. Since the Party Cell of Dong Son Commune Health Station implemented the "Healthcare at the Compassionate Home" model, Ms. Tra no longer has to ask someone to take her for examination, because doctors and nurses have come to her house, helping her to be more convenient in monitoring and treating the disease.
I hope this model will continue to be maintained and replicated so that people like me can receive healthcare more conveniently," Ms. Tra shared.
Physician Vo Tan Danh said that those direct care sessions further motivated him and his colleagues to continue to support people who are still facing many difficulties in life.
Doctor Pham Hong Quang - Secretary of the Party Cell, Director of Dong Son Commune Health Station said that from the reality of health care in the locality, the Party Cell realized that many people need to be cared for but encounter many obstacles when coming to medical facilities, such as lonely patients, people in difficult circumstances, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers and people with severe disabilities. Therefore, the Party Cell has implemented the "Health Care at Compassionate Homes" model for about 70 cases.
Instead of patients having to go to medical facilities, doctors, nurses and medical staff are assigned to come to their homes periodically for examination, health monitoring, medicine distribution and consultation. For people with severe illnesses or multiple illnesses at the same time, regular examinations help make the process of health care and monitoring more convenient.
Spreading compassionate actions
Along with the "Healthcare at Compassionate Homes" model, the Party Cell of Dong Son Commune Health Station also implemented the "Compassionate Gifts" model. The two models have been implemented in parallel by the Party Cell from the beginning of 2026 to date.
To have funds for implementation, each party member in the Party Cell voluntarily contributes 20,000 VND per month. From this contribution source, each quarter, the Party Cell gives 5 gifts, worth 200,000 VND/gift, to patients in difficult circumstances.
Through three quarters of implementation, the model has initially brought positive results. People, departments, branches, associations, and unions actively responded; Dong Son Commune Party Committee also paid attention to, directed and encouraged the Party Cell to continue to implement.
In the coming time, the Party Cell will develop a plan to continue to maintain and expand the model, striving to implement it more effectively in 2027. In particular, the model of studying and following Uncle Ho will be more widely deployed to all officials of the Station.
Each party member and civil servant will contribute 20 thousand VND/month on a voluntary basis to have more funding to maintain the model, support more people and bring more practical efficiency," Dr. Pham Hong Quang emphasized.
