Cao Bang - The project to upgrade and expand 38.8km of the Ho Chi Minh road section passing through Cao Bang is being accelerated.

The project to upgrade and expand the Ho Chi Minh road section Pac Bo - Cao Bang is about 38.8km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, a total investment of 3,250 billion VND, expected to start construction in 2027 and be completed in 2029.

The Ministry of Construction has just approved the investment policy for the project to upgrade and expand the Ho Chi Minh road section Pac Bo - Cao Bang.

This is a traffic route expected to strengthen the connection between Pac Bo Special National Relic Site and the traffic network of Cao Bang province and provinces in the region.

According to the decision, the starting point of the project is at Km0, in front of the gate of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in Pac Bo, Truong Ha commune, Cao Bang province.

The end point is at the intersection with old National Highway 3, now Ho Chi Minh Road, belonging to Bach Dang commune.

The total length of the route invested is about 38.8km, scale of 4 lanes, grade III mountain road, design speed of 60km/h. Of which, about 25.7km will be renovated and upgraded and 13.1km newly built.

The project has a total investment of 3,250 billion VND. Of which, state budget capital allocated in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030 is about 3,100 billion VND.

The project implementation time is 3 years. In 2026, units will deploy investment preparation work; expected to start construction in 2027 and be completed in 2029.

Ho Chi Minh Road is a traffic project of special significance, with a total length of about 3,167km, stretching from Pac Bo (Cao Bang) to Dat Mui (Ca Mau).

In Cao Bang, Km0 of the Ho Chi Minh road is located at Pac Bo Special National Relic Site, now belonging to Truong Ha commune.

This is a place associated with the event of President Ho Chi Minh returning to the country after 30 years of activities abroad to directly lead the Vietnamese revolution.

In recent years, Pac Bo has become a red address in traditional education, and also a destination attracting tourists from inside and outside the province.

However, the road connecting to the relic site still has some limitations in terms of road surface size and traffic speed. The investment and upgrading of the road is expected to create more favorable conditions for travel, service development and tourism in the area.

On September 20, Ms. Hoang Thanh Phia, a resident of Truong Ha commune, said that the investment in the new road makes local people very excited.

Pac Bo is a place to welcome Uncle Ho back to the country, a special relic, so if we build a big road, tourists from all over come, it is crowded and fun, people can trade or do anything conveniently" - Ms. Phia shared.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a leader of Cao Bang province said that the locality is actively preparing the necessary conditions to be ready to implement the project according to the plan.

According to the Ministry of Construction, the project investment aims to strengthen traffic connectivity of Cao Bang province with the national transportation network, provinces in the region, border gates and Pac Bo Relic Site.

The project also aims to meet transportation needs, improve traffic safety, contribute to socio-economic and tourism development; gradually complete the transport infrastructure system according to planning.

In addition, the synchronously invested road will contribute to improving disaster prevention and control capabilities, ensuring national defense and security in the area.

With a scale of 4 lanes and a total investment of 3,250 billion VND, the Pac Bo - Cao Bang project is being implemented in the context that transport infrastructure is being identified as one of the important factors to strengthen connectivity and expand the development space of the northeastern land of the Fatherland.
