On September 18-19, the National Children's Hospital organized the "Loving Mid-Autumn Festival 2026" program, bringing the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere to thousands of pediatric patients being treated at the hospital.
Instead of celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with their families, many young children have to stay in the hospital for treatment, including those who have to stay in the hospital for long days. Fun, arts and gift-giving activities therefore become a time to help them temporarily forget their illnesses, have more joy and motivation in the treatment process.
For more than a week now, baby H.N (6 years old) has been being treated at the Department of Gastroenterology, National Children's Hospital. Just entering 1st grade not long ago, when the joy of going to school was still new, she had to temporarily leave the classroom to be hospitalized.
His parents went to work far away and could not come to take care of his child, during the days in the hospital, H.N stayed with his uncle. Missing his parents, missing home, missing the new class, but the boy was still very obedient. When lying on the hospital bed, he also recited the lessons his teacher had just taught before having to drop out of school.
Knowing that on the morning of September 19th he would go to the 0 VND Fair to receive Mid-Autumn gifts, H.N was excited from early morning. The 1st grade student only hoped to get a vaccination quickly to be able to go to the fair in time.
Among many gifts, H.N likes the spinning top toy set the most. Holding the gift in her hand, she happily said: "I want to bring the toy back to me, and then I can go to school with my friends again".
The highlight of the program is the "Loving Mid-Autumn Festival 2026" Fair with 36 stalls and 15 gift categories, serving about 2,300 pediatric patients. Children participate in many activities such as painting statues, sand painting, fishing, electric cars, making Mid-Autumn lanterns, folk games and receiving gifts.
The hospital also organizes the art program "White Blouse Song - Loving Mid-Autumn Festival 2026", with music, circus, magic and exchange performances for pediatric patients.
Dr. Cao Viet Tung - Deputy Director of the National Children's Hospital - said that besides professional treatment, the hospital always focuses on creating a safe, friendly and spiritually supportive environment for children.
These are opportunities for children to see that they are not left behind. And so it is also a motivation for them to overcome illness," Dr. Cao Viet Tung shared.
According to hospital leaders, spiritual support activities are not only organized during the Mid-Autumn Festival. For pediatric patients undergoing long-term treatment, the hospital maintains Hope classes, playgrounds and exchange activities, helping them continue to study, play and maintain a rhythm of life suitable for their age.
To organize this year's program, the hospital has connected with more than 70 units, organizations, individuals and sponsors, mobilizing resources with a total value of more than 2 billion VND.
For pediatric patients who cannot leave the hospital room, doctors and volunteers bring gifts to their beds. In some departments at facility 1 and facility 2, Mid-Autumn miniatures are also decorated to create a joyful space for pediatric patients and their families.
Every day, the National Children's Hospital treats about 2,000 inpatients and receives 4,000-5,000 outpatient visits. At a time when the number of children with respiratory diseases is starting to increase, spiritual care activities are expected to contribute to helping pediatric patients and their families reduce pressure during treatment.
