On February 9, the Investigation Police Agency of the Criminal Police Department of Quang Ngai Provincial Police just executed an arrest warrant for temporary detention of Mr. Vy Ngoc Dung (born 1974, residing in Phu Loc village, Tho Phong commune, Quang Ngai province) for the crime of murder specified in Clause 1, Article 123 of the Penal Code for investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.
Initial investigation results determined that at about 5 pm on September 28, 2025, Mr. Dung attended a housewarming party at Mr. Dang Thanh Xuan's house in the same hamlet. When attending the party, Dung saw Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vuong (born 1965, residing in Phu Loc village, Tho Phong commune, Quang Ngai province) sitting playing guitar on stage at Mr. Xuan's house.
At this time, Dung felt uncomfortable and annoyed by hatred, because he thought Mr. Vuong was the one who had broken his family happiness about 2 years ago, leading to Dung and his wife having to divorce. From then on, Dung had the intention to kill Mr. Vuong.
Dung returned home, prepared a weapon, a machete, circled behind, where Mr. Vuong was sitting and suddenly attacked continuously in the back of his head. Mr. Vuong promptly used a guitar to resist, so he was hit on his left hand, causing 3 fingers to be severed. After that, Mr. Vuong ran away, Dung continued to chase and slash, but was stopped by Mr. Nguyen Nhat Phu and people who intervened, snatched the machete and controlled him, so Dung stopped.
At the investigating agency, Mr. Vy Ngoc Dung confessed to all of his criminal acts. Currently, the case is being further investigated and expanded by the Criminal Police Department, handling according to the provisions of law.
