According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), this year's 10th grade entrance exam may take place at the end of May or the end of June, after the high school graduation exam is held.
In recent years, the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City is usually held on June 6-7. However, this year the high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 11-12, forcing the 10th grade exam schedule to be adjusted to ensure organizational work.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said: "The Department is still collecting opinions and considering them to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for decision.
The fact that the exam schedule may be adjusted earlier or later than every year makes many students and parents worried.
Nguyen Minh Khanh, a 9th grade student in Ben Thanh ward, said that his review plan is currently built according to the milestone of early June as in previous years.
If I take the exam a few days earlier, it won't affect much, but if I take the exam late, prolonged waiting will also put more pressure on me," Minh Khanh shared.
Parents are also in a state of anxiety. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoan, Minh Khanh's parent, hopes that the city will soon announce a specific exam schedule so that students can feel secure in studying and reviewing.
This exam is already stressful, so all information needs to be announced soon to avoid creating more pressure for students. Whether the exam is early or late, information should be released early so that students can proactively plan their studies," Mr. Hoan said.
Mr. Cao Duc Khoa - Principal of Nguyen Du Secondary School (Ben Thanh ward) said that the school is developing a review plan for 9th grade students. Over the past time, the school has implemented the policy of teaching to the point of finalizing knowledge; at the time near the exam, comprehensive review will be organized for students.
According to Mr. Khoa, no matter when the exam is organized, the school still maintains review until close to the exam day to ensure that students have the best preparation.
According to statistics, from 2023 to 2025, the entrance exam to 10th grade public schools in Ho Chi Minh City will be held on June 6th and 7th with 3 subjects: Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language. Candidates register to take the exam for specialized classes or integrate exams for additional subjects accordingly, with a test time of 150 minutes.
In 2026, the entrance exam to 10th grade will still include 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and specialized or integrated subject exams (if any). In which, Math and Literature have a test time of 120 minutes/subject; Foreign Language 90 minutes; specialized, integrated subject 150 minutes.
Previously, in October 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the exam structure and sample exams for 3 subjects: Math, Literature and English.
