Rescue forces were always on duty to remind tourists.Only a few tourists and locals stood on the shore taking pictures.All the kiosks on the beach have been moved up to the shore.People in Do Son district urgently braced and reinforced glass and wooden doors of coastal businesses to avoid damage when the storm hit.Trees along the beach are also tied down to prevent them from falling.“We used sandbags, formwork, wood... to support the door and the surrounding area of the store. Hearing that this storm is forecast to be very strong, business people like us are very worried, hoping there won’t be much damage,” said Mr. Hung (restaurant owner in Do Son district).Most of the food and service businesses along the beach in Do Son have temporarily closed to avoid the storm. Loudspeakers have also continuously broadcast information about the storm and response measures to ensure safety when the storm makes landfall.More than 1,300 households with about 3,500 people living in dilapidated apartment buildings in Van My ward, Ngo Quyen district (Hai Phong city) were evacuated by the authorities before storm Yagi made landfall.
According to the 6 p.m. bulletin on September 6, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the center of storm No. 3 was located at about 20.0 degrees North latitude; 110.4 degrees East longitude, about 370km from Quang Ninh. From the night of September 6 and early morning of September 7, coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa had strong winds of level 6-7, then increasing to level 8-9, areas near the storm center had winds of level 10-12, gusting to level 14; areas deep inland in the Northeast had strong winds of level 6-8, gusting to level 9-11 (the strongest winds were from morning to evening of September 7).
