Frequently having to move through this intersection to get home after work, Mr. Nguyen Dang Hoang (45 years old, living in Tan Binh district) said he felt tired because he had to move little by little to move through here. "I usually go to work early to avoid traffic jams in the morning, but when I get off work I can't go another time because it's already late. Faced with this situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee prioritize building a steel overpass at Bon Xa intersection (connecting Binh Tan district and Tan Phu district). The project has a total capital of nearly 2,400 billion VND (site clearance is nearly 2,100 billion VND).

Previously, in 2016, the overpass project at Bon Xa intersection was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council but could not be implemented due to lack of capital.

The project was then approved with the investment scale of a 2-way overpass (steel bridge) in the direction of Thoai Ngoc Hau - Huong Lo 2, length 280m, width 9m. Total project investment is about 1,860 billion VND equal to Ho Chi Minh City budget.

However, according to the new plan, the steel overpass at the intersection will be built in the direction of Le Van Quoi - Hoa Binh, instead of Thoai Ngoc Hau - Huong Lo 2 as previously planned. The project has a total length of 280m, width of 12m, allowing two-way traffic.

Since 2012, facing frequent congestion at intersections, Ho Chi Minh City has started building steel overpasses. To date, Ho Chi Minh City has built 9 steel overpasses at intersections, including: Thu Duc intersection; Hang Xanh; Father's Mausoleum; intersection Nguyen Tri Phuong - Ba Thang Hai - Ly Thai To; Cong Hoa - Hoang Hoa Tham; Cay Go roundabout; Go Vap six intersection; Nguyen Thai Son - Nguyen Kiem - Hoang Minh Giam roundabout; Truong Son street (in front of Tan Son Nhat airport gate).
