Phung Phap Communal House is located in Dang Giang Ward, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City, belonging to the complex of religious and belief structures of the ancient Phung Phap village with a system of communal houses, pagodas, temples, and shrines built on a large scale, the most complete and intact in Hai Phong city today...

Dinh Phung Phap con co ten goi la Dinh Trung va ten chu la Khanh Tho Dinh, la ngoi Dinh luon luon mang niem vui thang loi va su tot dep den cho moi nguoi, moi nha. Theo cac bac cao nien trong lang, ban dau, dinh duoc xay dung o xom Trai, lam bang tre nua. Sau dinh duoc di chuyen ve xom Trung. Den nam Thieu tri thu 6 (nam Binh Ngo 1864) dinh duoc tu tao bang go. Nam Tu Duc 34 (1881) va nam Bao Dai 16 (1942) dinh lai duoc tu tao lai. Moi day nhat, nam 2021, dinh duoc tu bo lai khang trang cho den nay.

Phung Phap Communal House, also known as Trung Communal House and its Chinese name is Khanh Tho Communal House, is a communal house that brings joy of victory and goodness to everyone and every family. According to the elders in the village, the communal house was originally built in Trai hamlet, made of bamboo. Later, the communal house was moved to Trung hamlet. In the 6th year of Thieu Tri (Binh Ngo year 1864), the communal house was renovated with wood. In the 34th year of Tu Duc (1881) and the 16th year of Bao Dai (1942), the communal house was renovated again. Most recently, in 2021, the communal house was renovated to its present state.

Overall, Phung Phap communal house is an architectural work of art with a "Dinh" letter structure, the main facade facing west, including 5 front rooms, 3 rooms and the back room.

On the architectural structures, many sophisticated sculptures of high artistic value are preserved, bearing typical features of the decorative style of fine art sculpture on wooden architecture from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century.

The temple worships King Ngo Quyen, a national hero in the early 10th century. According to historical documents, in 938, when the Southern Han army invaded our country, Ngo Quyen set up a naval battle at the mouth of the Bach Dang River, defeating the enemy army led by the Southern Han prince Hoang Thao. In that glorious battle, Hai Phong was chosen as the place to concentrate troops and logistics, and at the same time was the command center of Ngo Quyen. To commemorate this great event, in many places in Hai Phong city, people built many works to commemorate and worship King Ngo Quyen, including Phung Phap temple.

After more than 3 centuries, Phung Phap communal house still preserves many valuable antiques such as: steles, statues, ancient royal decrees, palanquins, dragon pavilions, and eight tablets... With its cultural and architectural values, in 1994, Phung Phap communal house was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Architectural and Artistic Relic.
