It is known that the book series is the first systematic selection, gathering typical works of nearly 20 Vietnamese authors, spanning nearly a century of creation (from the 1940s to the present).
With more than 60 modern fairy tales, coming from the great names of Vietnamese literature, "Modern fairy tale of Vietnam" will bring readers new stories composed with the spirit, structure and miracle of folktales, but reflecting the life, soul and humanistic values of modern people.
Since the early 20th century, this genre has been paved by romantic and realistic writers such as: Khai Hung, Ngoc Giao, and Tham Tam. Since 1945, many writers have continued to preserve and renew this genre, typically Pham Ho, Ngo Quan Mien... and recently Nguyen Huong, Tran Duc Tien and many young writers.
In the flow of Vietnamese children's literature, modern fairy tales play the role of a bridge between tradition and modernity. Modern fairy tales still preserve the spirit of folktales - with miracles, charitable characters, ending causes - while opening up a humanistic, equal, and creative perspective for people today.
It can be said that modern Vietnamese fairy tales are close friends of childhood, contributing to forming children's personality, language development, imagination and ability to perceive beauty.
At the same time, this is also a valuable source of language for education in schools: Teaching creative storytelling, educating gender, gender equality, compassion and a positive attitude.
With the birth of "Modern fairy tale of Vietnam", for the first time, modern fairy tale of Vietnam has been systematically and comprehensively gathered, from the writers paving the way to the contemporary voices. The book series is not only a spiritual gift for children, but also a valuable document for literary researchers, teachers and parents.
Author - Dr. Le Nhat Ky said, For a long time, modern Vietnamese fairy tales have often been introduced sparingly, in collections of children's literature in general or by a specific author. With this collection, readers can approach the audience systematically for the first time, fully covering the developments and genre achievements along with the contributions of each author to the country's children's literature".
