In recent years, the organization and management of festivals in Vietnam have undergone many positive changes. Many festivals are held solemnly, preserving their inherent sacred values, while eliminating backward customs, superstition and excessive commercialization.
Each festival is a mirror reflecting the national cultural identity. And it is undeniable that festivals are gradually returning to their traditional values, becoming a bridge between the past and the present, helping the younger generation understand more about the nation's roots.
However, some local festivals still have many shortcomings. That is the commercialization of festivals is overshadowing the spiritual value, when many places take advantage of it to do business, overwhelming the sacred space. The price of services is escalating, from parking fees, food and drink to entrance fees, causing public outrage.
In addition, the awareness of some festival participants is still limited. Scenes of jostling, pushing, fighting for blessings, and placing donations haphazardly occur. The image of garbage overflowing after the festival not only causes aesthetic loss but also affects the environment, reducing the solemnity of sacred places...
To restore the festival to its true cultural value, cooperation from many sides, from the government to the people, is needed.
First of all, localities need to strengthen supervision and strictly handle violations such as unreasonable price increases, street vendors soliciting customers, organizing fairs and fortune telling in festival areas.
When participating in the festival, every citizen needs to raise awareness of environmental hygiene, behave civilly, and avoid jostling and pushing. There needs to be strong communication campaigns to change perceptions about burning votive paper and preserving sacred spaces.
The application of technology in festival management also needs to be considered and promoted by localities. For example, applying electronic tickets, installing surveillance cameras, and deploying mobile applications to support visitors will help the organization work more effectively, minimizing chaos and loss of control.
Finally, preserving and promoting the beauty of festivals is not only the responsibility of the government but also the awareness of each citizen. Every civilized action, every correct management decision will contribute to bringing the festival back to its true sacred value, becoming the cultural pride of the Vietnamese people.
