In addition to Math and Literature as two compulsory subjects, out of the 9 elective subjects, History and Geography are the two subjects with the largest number of candidates registered for the exam.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Education Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), the 2025 high school graduation exam will closely follow the current general education program, accurately assessing students' abilities and qualities.
The structure and content of the exam for the subjects have changed compared to last year. Of which, Geography is still organized in the form of multiple-choice questions but with 28 questions reduced, done in 50 minutes. The questions are spread across all 3 types of questions: multiple-choice 4 choice questions, multiple-choice true/false answers and short answer questions.
To ensure exam security, each optional subject will have 48 test codes, divided equally into two time frames. Candidates in the first round will be given the test code from 1 to 24, the second round will have the test code from 25 to 48.

The representative of the Ministry of Education and Training added that the exam will have differentiation questions, requiring contact to solve practical problems - this is a key factor to classify candidates. The exam focuses on knowledge from grade 12, but there is still content from grades 10 and 11. The questions can be independent by grade or combine grade 12 with grade 10 and 11 to assess applied and differential capacity.
Yesterday, the contestants completed the compulsory two subjects: Literature and Math. According to the general assessment, the students think that the Literature exam is highly topical, closely following the previous illustrative exam and evoking a great writing emotion. Many students confidently achieved a score of 8 - 9 in this subject. Meanwhile, in Math, students expressed that the exam is highly differentiated and difficult to achieve good grades.
