On the evening of September 12, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front made a remarkable move when it publicly disclosed 12,028 pages of statements of donations to compatriots affected by super typhoon No. 3, with a total amount of up to 527.8 billion VND.
This figure first of all shows the solidarity of the Vietnamese people, as well as affirms the value of kindness. In thousands of pages of statements, we can clearly see the joint efforts of all classes in society, from workers to businessmen, from children to the elderly. All are united in supporting our compatriots who are facing difficulties due to natural disasters and floods.
The disclosure of the statement by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is a very welcome move. This not only increases transparency in the activities of receiving donations, but also provides important basis and “evidence” for people to monitor and supervise according to their rights.
People have the right to supervise the collection, disbursement and delivery of donations - the sentiments and sentiments of compatriots that they have entrusted to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
However, there were also unexpected “incidents” beyond the imagination of many people. On the night of September 12, public surveillance discovered that many people, including famous and influential people on social networks, inflated (or “flaunted”) the amount of money they had donated.
For example, some people only transfer 100,000 VND in support but then "magically" turn it into 100 million VND. There are cases where 50 million VND "transforms" into 500 million VND, all just to show off on social networks.
These are extremely sad and reprehensible acts. These actions remind us of the moral principle that "the way you give is better than what you give". In addition, many people take advantage of the flood situation and the kindness of others to enhance their personal image on social networks. This is also a manifestation of vanity and must be strongly condemned.
However, the community that condemns and criticizes also needs to be alert because in this story, there are people, like a famous person on social media, who admitted on Lao Dong that "the tarpaulin is real".
But there are also many cases where the "canvas" is an impersonation to play dirty tricks on each other. For example, the Vietnam Circus Federation has just spoken out, saying that the information that they donated 10,000 VND is not true.
Supporting fellow countrymen who are facing difficulties due to storms and floods is first and foremost a matter of “will,” depending on each person’s circumstances and financial capacity. No one has the right to blame or laugh at someone who can only donate 10,000 VND. No one needs to be ashamed when they can only afford to share a very modest amount.
Because above all, a person's feelings and heart towards his fellow countrymen should not and cannot be measured by numbers!
