The difference can be clearly seen, although the number of visitors has increased sharply, almost all key tourist localities do not have overload or "overcharging" tourists. This also shows that if there is careful preparation from the locality, tourism is completely capable of bringing in large revenue.
Contributing to the success of Vietnamese tourism in recent days has many factors, including a very positive factor to mention: Many localities are willing to provide free visits for people and tourists.
Hanoi free tickets to dozens of sightseeing spots, free parking tickets at many relics. Ho Chi Minh City free metro, Hue free tickets to visit points belonging to the Hue Ancient Citadel Complex for Vietnamese citizens on National Day...
All of this creates a vibrant picture of Vietnamese tourism, and is also an opportunity to once again introduce Vietnam with beautiful nature, thousands of years of civilization, a rich heritage system, unique cuisine, communities rich in identity and above all a peaceful and safe country with friendly and hospitable people.
But also from here, a question arises: Does tourism development only rely on long holidays, such as National Day holidays?
Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo issued on August 22, 2026 on developing Vietnamese tourism into a key economic sector in the new era is a breakthrough step. The Resolution stated: Tourism development is not truly sustainable, not commensurate with the potential, advantages and development requirements of the country.
The objectives of Resolution 26 are very specific, by 2030, Vietnamese tourism is a key economic sector directly contributing from 10 - 12% of GDP, striving to welcome 45 - 50 million international visitors, total revenue from tourists reaching 80 - 90 billion USD. By 2045, Vietnamese tourism will directly contribute from 14 - 15% of GDP, striving to welcome 70 million international tourists.
However, Resolution 26-NQ/TW does not simply set more goals for the tourism industry, but what is important is the orientations to change the development model: Tourism must become a general economic sector, a new driving force for growth, taking culture as the core foundation, taking identity and quality of experience as a competitive advantage.
Elevating the value of Vietnamese tourism requires the tourism industry and the business community to truly innovate thinking, approaches and ways of doing things to transform the growth model and tourism management methods from "quantity" to "quality" and especially build a synchronous tourism ecosystem.
When connected to culture, cinema, sports, aviation, diplomacy, trade and creative industry, Vietnamese tourism is not simply confined to one trip but creates soft power, so that tourism is truly a spearhead economic sector in the future.
