In those moments, the easiest and most tempting choice is not to move on, but to let go. Because everyone is exhausted at times. People are tired of trying hard but not seeing sweet fruit, tired of giving but not receiving much, tired of betting too much faith and then reaping all disappointment.
However, the vast majority of people choose to stop when they are only one step away from the destination that they themselves do not know. Mountain climbers who decide to turn around right before the final curve will forever miss the brilliant dawn behind the peak. People who give up hope too early will never have the opportunity to see what fate has silently prepared for them in the next chapter.
Look at the people struggling out there like the construction worker who lost his job in middle age swallowing bitterness to learn a new profession or the patient who is sentenced to death on the hospital bed still cherishes a smile sent to those around him. The most precious strength of a human being is never an invincible life, but the ability to find a reason to stand up after each time life knocks them down.
On days when you think you are empty-handed, in fact you still own the most invaluable asset. That is the ability not to surrender to fate. Most of the dead ends in life are not really dead ends, they are just thorny bends that we are not patient enough to go to the end.
Time always has a way to answer questions that human impatience can never answer. Some seeds have to lie still in the cold ground for many months to germinate, some seasons flowers have to go through a cold winter to be able to bloom. If everything of value in this world came easily and quickly, humans would never have learned perseverance.
Therefore, when standing in front of a seemingly deadlocked period, the important thing is not to stand still and look up at the sky complaining when everything will improve. The right question is: Can I take another step? Just one step. A phone call, one more try, one more day of trying hard. And then one day looking back, you will realize that what takes you through the storm is not an extraordinary power at all. It's just that in the darkest moment, you didn't stop.
