As a delegate attending the XIV Vietnam Trade Union Congress, Ms. Tran Thuy Duong - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of FPT University - FPT Corporation Trade Union (Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union) said that what she expects most from the new term is not only to innovate trade union activities, but to make science and technology, artificial intelligence and innovation truly become the driving force for the development of Vietnamese workers.
According to Ms. Duong, in recent years, we have talked a lot about digital transformation, but in fact, the world has entered a new stage, where AI is fundamentally changing the way people learn, work and create.

This poses a very big requirement for the trade union organization. In my opinion, in the next term, the trade union should not only take care of the lives or protect the rights of workers in the traditional way, but also become a companion force to help workers adapt to new technologies, improve digital skills and working capacity in the AI era," Ms. Duong said.
Ms. Duong said that there are very clear changes at FPT Joint Stock Company. Many AI tools and digital platforms developed by Vietnamese people are gradually supporting officials, lecturers, engineers and workers to improve work efficiency. Jobs that previously required many hours to process can now be supported by AI in just a few minutes. From content creation, data analysis, work management to customer care or training activities are being strongly supported by technology.
In trade union activities, we have also started applying AI to communication, event organization, content building, union member surveys and connecting workers. The most important thing I see is not saving time, but helping trade union officials have more time to focus on more humane things such as listening, sharing and accompanying union members. From that reality, I expect that in the 2026-2031 term, the Vietnam Trade Union organization will have large-scale programs on AI and digital skills for workers. If in the past trade unions had good labor and creative labor emulation movements, then in the coming period, there needs to be more programs to promote "digital literacy", helping workers access AI easily, safely and effectively," Ms. Duong added.
Ms. Duong also wished the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese technology enterprises to build common platforms to serve the trade union system.
I believe that a modern trade union organization in the coming period is not only a place to protect workers when they encounter difficulties, but also a companion to help them adapt faster, work more efficiently and develop more sustainably in the technology era. That is also a way for trade unions to continue to affirm their role in a world that is changing every day by science and technology and artificial intelligence," Ms. Duong emphasized.
