Driver spreads blanket on highway to sleep, no accident is strange

Lê Thanh Phong |

The driver of a 16-seat car stopped the car and spread a blanket on the highway to sleep. It sounds like a joke.

On October 5, Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6, Team 6, Department 6, Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security issued a record of administrative violation against the driver of 16-seat passenger car with license plate 78B-009.33.

Driver N.S (born in 1966, residing in Phu Yen province) spread a blanket on the highway and slept in front of the car. At the same time, Mr. S did not have a car driving license. Team 6 issued a report for Mr. S for two violations: "Parking on the highway against regulations" and "not having a driving license".

Imagine, if the traffic police patrol team did not detect it, what would have happened?

There have been many violations of traffic laws on the highway such as reversing, weaving, speeding, and arguing. The latest incident occurred on July 11, when the driver of a 16-seat car got out of the car and argued with two people in a pickup truck on the Hanoi - Hai Phong highway. As a result, the car from behind hit the car, leading to a series of accidents, killing two of the three people arguing and injuring six others.

In 2019, in just one month, there were 4 cases of people spreading mats and drinking on the highway.

Many traffic accidents have occurred on the highway from North to South, many people died, many were injured, very heartbreaking. Many opinions say that it is due to the quality of the highway, the lack of lanes, the lack of surveillance cameras, the lack of lighting.

The above shortcomings are true, but they are not the main causes of accidents. The cause is human, the driver does not comply with traffic laws. Typically, in the last week of September, there were two traffic accidents on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, Phuong Trang and Thuan Thao vehicles both hit the back of another vehicle. Hitting from behind is due to the driver driving recklessly, it cannot be blamed on any other reason.

In the context of limited capital, the transport sector has tried its best to build and complete a number of expressways. Although not all items have been completed, they are still better than just using the national highway as before. Having expressways for convenient traffic and shortening time is the desire of the people, but safety still depends on the drivers.

To limit violations on the highway, it is necessary to consider increasing the penalty level. If we are lenient, it will not only bring disaster to the violators.
