The Ministry of Public Security has just submitted to the Government the 4th draft of the Decree regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic; deduction of points and restoration of driving license points.
One of the noteworthy proposals is related to the penalty of deducting all driving license points (12 points) for drivers who violate the Road Traffic Law even once with many specific errors.
Many people think that deducting all 12 points from a driver's license for one violation is too "heavy-handed", because if a driver violates one of the prescribed errors once, his or her license will be immediately "revoked" and he or she will have to "restore" the points.
However, let's look back at the specific cases where this provision applies to see the necessity and reasonableness of the proposal.
Behaviors such as “swerving, weaving, speeding to chase each other” or “using feet to control the steering wheel while the car is moving” are manifestations of contempt for the law and irresponsibility for community safety.
These behaviors are the main cause of many serious accidents, even causing death or permanent disability to traffic participants.
Therefore, the regulation of "strong" point deduction is a state management measure, both deterrent and educational in nature, as well as becoming a strict "reminder" for every driver to comply with traffic laws.
Not only that, acts such as not complying with load inspection, transferring loads or deliberately avoiding load inspection also cause serious consequences for traffic infrastructure.
Overloaded vehicles have been and are the direct cause of rapid damage to the road system, negatively affecting the country's vital routes and costing the budget for maintenance and repair.
On the other hand, because this is a "strong" regulation that has a great impact on drivers, to ensure that this policy is truly effective, it is impossible not to take into account the factors of transparency and impartiality in the inspection and supervision work of the enforcement forces to avoid situations of abuse of power or incorrect handling procedures.
This transparency not only ensures the effectiveness of the law but also strengthens people's trust in traffic regulation and road safety.
Finally, it is important to realize that these regulations are not intended to make things difficult for road users, but to create a safer road environment for everyone.
Traffic safety is not only the responsibility of the authorities, but also depends on the awareness and compliance with the law of each participant.
The proposal to deduct 12 driving license points for drivers who violate the Road Traffic Law with specific errors, even just once, should be supported, because the safety of each citizen when participating in traffic is the most important thing!
