According to Mr. Nguyen Van Trong - Director of Yen Bai Department of Home Affairs - the unit is reviewing salary information and labor contract regimes according to Decree No. 111/2022/ND-CP, including the driver team that Lao Dong Newspaper has just published a series of articles.
In particular, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong raised a very hopeful idea for drivers of blue-plate cars: "To have full information and content for the report of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee to prepare for the content of the People's Council meeting at the end of 2024, we will assess the specific impact of each subject. During the research process, the Department will have a report and advise on adjustment solutions to ensure the rights of drivers when implementing the labor contract regime".
The first is "assessing the specific impact on each subject". This is very clear, as reflected in many articles in Lao Dong Newspaper, analyzing the situation of senior drivers whose salaries were cut by nearly half.
Lao Dong newspaper raised the issue very frankly, no matter how administrative arrangements are made, the lives of workers must be taken into account. Let's ask those who make this decision, with a salary of 5 million VND/month, can you afford to spend, live, and take care of your family and children?
The second is "advising on adjustment solutions to ensure the rights of drivers". We appreciate the attention and listening to public opinion of the leaders of the Department of Home Affairs of Yen Bai province, and are looking for ways to resolve this appropriately, meeting the aspirations and legitimate rights of workers.
In our opinion, the Department of Home Affairs should advise according to the proposal of the Director of the Provincial Department of Finance, Nguyen Thi Trang Nhung, that is, "completely cut off the circuit with senior drivers to implement as before because this number is not large enough for them to receive salary and pay social insurance as before, and for new drivers, apply the new Resolution".
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, the number of drivers whose salaries were cut according to Resolution No. 67 dated December 8, 2023 of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Council is not much (a few dozen people), mainly elderly drivers who have worked for many years.
Only a few dozen people, if resolved according to the proposal of the Director of the Department of Finance, is satisfactory and suitable to the reality of workers' lives.
We hope that the leaders of the Department of Home Affairs will study and consult with the leaders of Yen Bai province to resolve this issue soon and reasonably so that senior drivers can work with peace of mind.
