Here are some ways to improve your child's eyesight, shared by ophthalmologist Dr. Ashwani Seth at Apollo Spectra Hospital.
Sunbathing
Sunbathing can improve vision in children. Children who are outdoors and exposed to daylight have a lower risk of developing nearsightedness. Outdoor light helps children's developing eyes maintain the correct distance between the lens and the retina, keeping vision sharp.
Balanced diet
Adding foods rich in vitamins A, C and E, omega-3 fatty acids and zinc to your child’s diet can help improve their eyesight. Green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamin A, and also contain other vitamins and minerals such as calcium, vitamin C and B12 which are good for the eyes.
Exercise regularly
Exercise is beneficial in maintaining vision, as it helps maintain blood and oxygen circulation throughout the body and promotes eye health. In addition to regular exercise, eye exercises can also help improve vision.
Minimize the use of electronic devices
Children constantly playing video games, watching videos, and texting expose them to blue light, which can lead to digital eye strain. So limit the time your child spends on these devices to protect their eyes.
