Constipation is a common condition, especially when you eat less vegetables, drink less water and do less exercise. Instead of rushing to find a medicine, you can try simple ways right in the kitchen, helping the stools soften and become easier to pass the stool, without causing side effects.
Here are 5 natural ingredients that help support digestion and soften stools effectively, as suggested by Dr. Partap Chauhan, Director of Medicine at Jiva Ayurveda Center (India):
Chia seeds
Chia seeds soaked in water will expand, forming a gel layer around them, making the phank softer and easier to pass. Fia seeds act as a natural laxative. It hydrates the intestines and makes stools move more easily," Dr. Chauhan explained.
How to use: Soak 1 tablespoon of chia seeds with half a cup of water, leave for a few minutes and then eat in a spoon. If you have severe constipation, you can take it twice a day.
Oil and gas
Bamboo oil has long been used to clean the intestines in traditional Indian medicine. This oil has a soothing and bowel-stimulating effect, helping to reduce constipation, especially in people with long-term problems, says Dr. Chauhan. However, it should be used according to the instructions of a professional."
How to use: Drink 1 tablespoon of castor oil per day, which can be mixed with fruit juice for easier drinking.
Olive oil
Olive oil helps retain water in the stool, thereby softening and making it easier to remove. Olyve oil has emollient properties, helps soothe the intestines and reduce dryness, a common cause of constipation, says Dr. Chauhan.
How to use: Drink 1 tablespoon of olive oil whenever you feel a full, uncomfortable belly. flaxseed oil can be mixed if needed.
Aloe vera juice
Aloe vera not only beautifies the skin but also helps with better digestion. Aloe vera juice cools the intestines, reduces inflammation and makes stools more likely to pass, especially when the intestines are dry and hot, Dr. Chauhan shared.
How to use: Mix 2 tablespoons aloe vera juice with water, drink in the morning on an empty stomach. Note that you must clean the gel inside carefully to avoid irritation.
Flaxseeds
Flaxseeds are rich in fiber, which helps soften stools and stimulate the intestines to function more smoothly. Lan seeds nourish the intestines, helping to reduce dry and hardness, says Dr. Chauhan.
How to use: Soak 4 tablespoons flaxseed with half a cup of water. Hold for a few minutes and then eat in a spoon. Can be mixed with milk or juice if desired.
