Lack of sleep, stress, arbitrary eating or gluing eyes to the screen every day are silently destroying the skin, accelerating the aging process.
It is no coincidence that many people in their 30s already see their skin darkened, dry, and wrinkles appear. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, nearly 50% of people aged 25 - 65 have skin problems, in which lifestyle plays a significant role.
Sleepless and stressed, silent skin destroyer
Staying up late continuously because of work, social networks, or constantly watching movies is becoming a "specialty" of modern life. However, lack of sleep causes the skin to lose time for self-repair.
Dr. Shareefa Chause, a dermatologist in Mumbai (India), said: "Not getting enough sleep reduces collagen production, a key factor for firm and elastic skin. This makes skin drier and aging faster". Not only that, sleep deprivation also increases cortisol hormone, which easily causes acne and dermatitis.
Prolonged stress also leaves a clear mark on the skin. When stress increases, cortisol also increases, making acne, eczema or psoriasis easily break out. “About half of my patients believe that stress is the main cause of skin problems," Dr. Chause shared.
Eating, screens and pollution, the trio accelerates aging
A diet high in processed foods, sugar and bad fats is not only harmful to health but also makes the skin dull and prone to acne. According to Dr. Chause, unbalanced eating can cause deficiency of vitamins and antioxidants, the natural shield of the skin.
In addition, exposure to phone and computer screens for too long causes the skin to be affected by blue light. This factor can disrupt the skin regeneration process, worsening melasma and premature aging. Regular rest, using products rich in antioxidants and limiting screen viewing time is necessary.
Environmental pollution is also a constant threat. Smoke and fine particles in the air attack the skin's protective barrier every day, causing inflammation and promoting aging. "Cleaning the skin properly, using antioxidant serum and broad-spectrum sunscreen is an indispensable step if living in a polluted environment," Dr. Chause emphasized.
Skin does not age overnight. It gets older little by little, in the way we live every day. Changing living habits, no matter how small, is still the longest and most persistent investment for the youthful look of the skin.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
