8 people in Lang Son had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment after being attacked by bees while sweeping graves and clearing bushes during Thanh Minh Tet, including 6 women.
According to a report from Lang Son Provincial General Hospital, recent emergency cases are concentrated in Hoang Van Thu commune with 6 people, Dong Dang commune one person and Luong Van Tri ward one person. The youngest patient is 25 years old, the oldest is 61 years old.
When admitted to the hospital, many people suffered from swelling, pain, edema, eye damage, itchy rashes at the bites, and red skin all over the body. Some cases had severe allergic symptoms such as shortness of breath, rapid pulse, low blood pressure, and anaphylactic shock.
The patient's family said that while sweeping graves, clearing fields, and cleaning fields, the victims accidentally disturbed the beehive, so they were attacked by wasps, wasps, wasps, and honeybees rushing out. The bites were mainly in the head, face, neck, abdomen, and limbs - areas that are easily dangerous.
After a period of intensive treatment, all 8 patients recovered and were discharged on April 20.
Doctors at the Emergency Department, Lang Son Provincial General Hospital, said that bee stings can cause pain, swelling, poisoning, and even death if not given proper first aid and taken to the emergency room in time.
According to the doctor, when stung by a bee, it is necessary to quickly move the victim out of the bee area, leave the victim lying still, limit movement to slow down the spread of venom in the body. Then, use tweezers or gently stroke to remove the bee stinger from the skin.
Doctors note not to squeeze the sting with your hands as it can spread the venom and penetrate deeper. People bitten by bees should be cold-compressed to reduce pain and swelling, and drink plenty of water to help detoxify.
If signs such as shortness of breath, fatigue, dizziness, whole-body rash or low blood pressure appear, the victim needs to be taken to the nearest medical facility immediately. Self-medication, including traditional medicine or modern medicine, can slow down the emergency time and increase the risk of complications.
Doctors also believe that the fact that many women are attacked by bees may be related to scents from perfumes, shampoos or cosmetics, which can attract bees.
When going to the forest, tomb sweeping, or picnicing in places with many trees and bushes, people should avoid wearing colorful clothes, limit the use of cosmetics with sweet fragrances, do not walk barefoot and should wear neat, tight clothes, and wear hats with mesh to reduce the risk of being attacked by bees and insects.
