How to choose the right hair care product
Serum has become a familiar care step for many people, especially in hot, windy environments. However, according to Dr. Shareefa Chause, a dermatologist at Jiva Ayurveda Clinic (India), most users only apply serum in habit without understanding what their hair needs. This leads to dry, brittle hair that does not improve.
One of the most common mistakes is choosing the wrong serum. Dry hair needs argan oil or shea butter; curly hair mixed with coconut oil or glycerin; stiff curly hair should choose Serum containing silicone to reduce puppets. If used incorrectly, serum will have difficulty promoting its effects.
In addition, using too much or too little serum can cause hair to lack shine or become greasy. Dr Chause advises: the standard amount is only one bean for short hair, gradually increasing in length, applying from the middle to the ends of the hair.
Habits that make serum ineffective
Another silent mistake was not maintaining the habit of using it. Serum should be used regularly 2-3 times a week to create a sustainable protective layer for hair fibers. If only used a few times a month, hair will have a hard time recovering.
Many people also rub Serum between the palms of their hands, causing the product to disappear before applying to the hair. According to the recommendation, you should only warm it slightly and then stroke along the length of your hair. Similarly, applying serum when hair is completely dry is also ineffective because moist hair helps distribute the product better.
Another mistake is applying serum to dirty hair. Dust, oil and sweat will hinder absorption. Serum should also not be applied to the scalp, which can easily cause oiliness and clogged hair follicles.
Finally, using serum every day can easily cause accumulation, making hair heavy and dull. The ideal frequency is after each washing or according to the needs of each hair type.
Serum is not an immediate medicine, but if used properly, hair can change significantly. The product helps add moisture, create a protective layer against friction, restore damaged hair and support healthier hair growth. A study in the Journal of Clinical Dermatology, Cosmetics and Research shows that serum containing amla extract and dried freeze-fried coconut water can improve hair growth density after more than 90 days.
