Ho Chi Minh City gateway hospital promotes capacity, becoming a "medical shield

Many regional hospitals at the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City are being comprehensively upgraded, helping people conveniently get medical examination and treatment near home and contributing to reducing the burden on upper levels.

Holding the test result sheet in her hand, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan (65 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) completed the medical examination and received medicine when it was just past 10 am. Ms. Nhan said that she has bone and joint disease and high blood pressure, so she often has to go to the hospital for periodic health check-ups.

Previously, her daughter often had to take leave from work to take her mother to Thong Nhat Hospital for examination. The travel distance of both going back and forth was nearly 40 km, making examination quite difficult. However, since the facilities and medical staff at Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital were upgraded, she decided to switch to examination near home to be more convenient, save time and not affect her daughter's work.

According to BS.CKII Dang Quoc Quan, Director of Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, on average, there are about 2,000 new examinations per day, of which the number of inpatients ranges from 400-500 people, an increase of nearly 50% compared to before.

According to Dr. Quan, in addition to new facilities, the support from 4 upper-level hospitals including 115 People's Hospital, Tu Du Hospital, Children's Hospital 1 and Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology has helped Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital further improve its expertise and service quality.

Currently, the hospital aims to become a complete general hospital, playing the role of a medical center in the Northwest area of the city, serving the diverse medical examination and treatment needs of people in the area and neighboring areas," Dr. Quan emphasized.

Also recorded at Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, with a scale of 1,000 high-quality beds, forming specialized departments with synchronous and modern medical equipment. Over the past time, a series of patients have been cared for and treated to reduce overload for upper levels.

Representatives of the hospital said that in the past year, the hospital has sent many turns of medical staff to participate in training and professional development at leading hospitals. Many new techniques have been received and deployed, focusing on fields such as surgery, emergency resuscitation, cardiology, pediatrics, oncology and diagnostic imaging.

Postgraduate training programs, continuing education and technical transfer have contributed to improving the professional qualifications of the medical team, meeting the increasing treatment requirements of patients.

One of the outstanding results is the deployment of the trauma emergency center model at the hospital. The 115 Emergency Center has supported the construction of satellite emergency stations, established out-of-hospital - in-hospital coordination procedures and strengthened initial emergency capacity.

The hospital has put into operation a red alert system, emergency reception and screening area, intensive resuscitation, and trauma emergency operating room. This model contributes to shortening treatment time and improving the effectiveness of emergency care for multiple injuries, strokes and critical conditions.

Dr. Cao Tan Phuoc - Director of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital said that the hospital continues to improve professional quality, develop in-depth techniques, complete the trauma emergency model and gradually build a sustainable hospital, better meeting the health care needs of the people.
