On January 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health informed about the conclusion of the Department of Health Inspectorate after inspecting the Saigon Reproductive Support and Andrology Hospital. According to the initial conclusion, this hospital performed in vitro fertilization without the Ministry of Health approving the list of techniques.
From the information reported by the press, on January 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health inspected the Saigon Reproductive Support and Andrology Hospital (under the Viet Phuc Saigon Hospital Joint Stock Company) at 87 Ly Chieu Hoang, Ward 10, District 6.
This hospital was granted a license to operate medical examination and treatment by the Ministry of Health on March 8, 2024.The form of organization is a specialized hospital, with Dr. H.C.C.as the person responsible for technical expertise.
On May 31, 2024, the Ministry of Health issued a decision recognizing this hospital as being allowed to perform in vitro fertilization techniques, but the list of techniques related to in vitro fertilization techniques has not yet been approved.
The inspection found that this hospital had many violations such as: the hospital performed in vitro fertilization techniques but the list of techniques had not been approved by the Ministry of Health according to regulations; and the procedure for self-declaration of meeting biosafety standards for the laboratory had not been carried out.
In addition, hospital staff participating in medical examination and treatment have not been fully registered to practice according to regulations and have not operated within the registered time; posted advertising content that has not been approved by competent authorities.
Regarding gender selection, Dr. H.C.C does not admit to providing gender selection advice as reported by the press. The Department of Health Inspectorate will continue to clarify and strictly handle if there is sufficient evidence of this behavior.
The Health Department Inspectorate requested the hospital to immediately stop performing in vitro fertilization techniques and related advertisements. The Health Department Inspectorate will continue to verify, clarify, and handle violations according to regulations.
