Taking on tasks in a period of high pressure
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasized that the field of food safety has a large and complex workload. After the 2010 Law on Food Safety was promulgated, the system of guiding documents was gradually completed, in which Decree 15/2018 was assessed as creating an important reform step, contributing to creating favorable conditions for businesses.
However, the actual implementation still reveals many inadequacies, requiring continued review and amendment to suit management requirements in the new situation.
One of the key tasks identified by the Ministry of Health is to amend the Law on Food Safety, and at the same time develop a project to unify the focal point for food safety management according to the direction of competent authorities.
Strengthen support, focus on major tasks
Minister Dao Hong Lan said that the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Health has agreed to strengthen resources and coordinate with units under the Ministry to support the Food Safety Department in completing a large volume of work in the coming time.
The Minister requested the new Director to promote professional capacity, work experience, and internal solidarity to effectively implement assigned tasks, especially in the context that the industry is entering a period of many changes.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Dr. Chu Quoc Thinh expressed his honor to be trusted by the leaders of the Ministry of Health to assign a new responsibility, and also said that this is also a great responsibility in the context that the field of food safety is posing many urgent requirements.

The new Director said that in the coming time, the Food Safety Department will focus on a number of key tasks such as: completing the amendment of the Food Safety Law; building a national database on food safety connecting from the Central to local levels; strengthening post-inspection, risk analysis and early warning.
Dr. Chu Quoc Thinh also committed to uniting with the unit collective, striving to perform well the assigned tasks, and at the same time hoped to continue to receive the attention and coordination of the Ministry's leaders and related units.
