Ministry of Health investigates the suspected case of "enough money for emergency care" in Nam Dinh

Lệ Hà |

The Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the Director of the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health requesting urgent clarification and strict handling of the case related to information on paying enough money for emergency care.

According to Lao Dong newspaper, the incident occurred on May 3, 2025 at Nam Dinh General Hospital, when a child named M.T.A had a serious accident, but the family thought that the hospital would not receive emergency care immediately if they did not have money.

Through grasping the situation, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment (Ministry of Health) confirmed that M.T.A was currently being treated at the National Hospital of Pediatrics. The Ministry of Health requests the Department of Health of Nam Dinh province to review the entire process of receiving and treating the child emergency at Nam Dinh General Hospital, comparing with Article 44 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment in 2023 and related documents.

Strictly handle individuals and groups if they violate regulations on reception and emergency treatment.

Coordinate with the National Children's Hospital to assess the expertise and promptly correct if errors are detected.

The Ministry of Health requires reporting the implementation results before May 6, 2025 to synthesize and report to the Ministry's leaders.

On May 4, the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health said it had received a quick report from the Provincial General Hospital regarding the incident of being reported as having to "pay the full hospital fee to provide emergency care" for child M.T.A (4 years old) in a traffic accident.

According to the report, at around 4:03 p.m. on May 3, the child was taken to the emergency room in a conscious state with scratches. Although he had not paid and registered for examination, the child was still examined by doctors, prescribed paraclinical tests and given emergency care. At 5:45 p.m., the patient was transferred to the National Children's Hospital.

The hospital confirmed that no employee said " pay enough money for emergency care". The person who takes the patient temporarily only pays 500,000 VND and is not required to advance. Administrative exchanges can cause video campers to misunderstand.

The Department of Health requires the Provincial General Hospital to seriously rectify the on-duty work, review the emergency procedure and strictly handle if violations are detected.

Mr. H.T.T (Nam Dinh City), who took M.T.A to the emergency room, confirmed that his reflection was true. He said he took the seriously injured child to Nam Dinh General Hospital on the afternoon of May 3, but was asked to pay the full amount for the examination even though he only brought 500,000 VND.
